Summadayze 2010 was certainly one of the best summadayze in Auckland for quite some time. Held at the Telestraclear Pacific events centre, this venue was an excellent choice for this type of event.
Arriving around 5pm I was surprised by the large number of people already enjoying the gig. The outside was top notch with one large stage on the grass which had a good thousand of two grooving along too The Shapeshifters who let off a very good set. There were four other rooms of mosly NZ DJ's. In the Summadayze indoor areana room Kiwi DJ Daniel Farley, who probaly is the next NZ DJ to make it big on the international circuit had a brilliant set of stomping tunes and a pretty large crowd going hard for that time of the day. Dick Johnson carried on things there while Tom Novy let loose on the outdoor stage to a very satisfied crowd with the sun coming down and people enjoying the final drinks in the bright sun. The famous room had North Shore Pony Club going hard which was followed by Greg Churchill who pulled in a large number of part goers and brought out the filthy beats for the night. it was one of those sets that made everyone loose control and just go nuts. Sam Hill graced the Electric playground room and did a great set as usual with the lastest and greatest tunes. International Mark Knight was a standout back in the indoor arena and certainly picked things up while outdoors Sharam went hard with an excellent performance and knew how to read the crowd nicely. Unfortalately the police hit the sound crew up and the sound had to be lowed.Once Shram finished, the outdoor stage finished up and everyone headed inside where Dan Aux and General Lee had been playing while Menno De Jong was in the large indoor areana. He started off well however it got a bit repetitive towards the end. Don Diablo was going nuts bouncing around and jumping off tables to absoloutely dirty beats to a very enthusastic group. After cruising around all the rooms for a while we came back to Eddie Halliwell who was stomping up a storm. Carl Cox who alot of people would have come to sen started off well with a few words of wisdom and played some well known tracks as well as some less known tracks. We decideed to call it a relatively early night so after an hour of Carl Cox we popped in to see NIc Fanciulli do his magic to a hard and pumping crowd.
Overall this was an excellent event. Usually these type of gigs attract teenie boppers however this crowd was mature and sensible.Alcohol vareity and prices could be improved however it was efficent enough. Sercuirty was at suitable levels and there was plenty of space. The addttion of the outdoor stage and the event starting early in the day made this event a top notch and memorable day/night. We certainly look forward to the next one.
